👋 Long Time No See!

A lot has happened since our last news post! We've been super busy working on new features and content, and honestly just forgot to write an update. Sorry about that! 😅

Let's catch you up on everything that's new.

🎨 Mix Multiple Meme Packs!

The biggest new feature: You can now mix and play with multiple meme packs at the same time!

Instead of picking just one pack, you can now select multiple packs and get memes from all of them combined during gameplay. This is a game changer for smaller meme packs (around 30 templates) since they feel way less repetitive when mixed with others.

This also makes creating your own custom packs more fun! You're no longer forced to build massive collections just to make them playable. Create a small themed pack and mix it with an official one to see your templates get shuffled in—it's super fun!

Free users can select up to 2 meme packs at a time, while paid members can select up to 10 packs for maximum variety.

🆕 New Content

We've been busy adding tons of new stuff:

• 5 New Avatars: Skibidi Toilet, Trallalero Trallala, Tung Tung Sahur, Ballerina Cappucina, and Barry B Benson!
• Limited Time Halloween Avatars that were available until Halloween
• Over 250 new meme templates across 5 brand new packs: Reaction Memes, Animal Memes, Cringe Memes, 2000s Memes, and School Memes
• Spooktober Meme Pack was available for a limited time during October

🛡️ Chat Filter Improvements

We're continuing to improve our chat filter to make it less annoying while keeping everyone safe. Your feedback has been incredibly helpful, so huge thanks to everyone who reached out via Discord or email! Keep it coming.

🎮 Game Improvements

Lots of quality of life updates:

• More sound effects throughout the game, including voting feedback
• Enhanced notifications for logged-in users (friend requests, game invites, etc.)
• Meme Studio improvements: Better loading times, improved template and pack searching, smoother editor UI
• Tons of bug fixes and small improvements across the board

❤️ Community Updates

We had an amazing Halloween event on our Discord with fun Spooktober activities! The community response was incredible.

Also big news: We now have an official subreddit! Join us at /r/makeitmeme to share memes, discuss the game, and connect with other players.

And something we're super proud of: We just passed 600,000 registered users! Thanks to everyone who's been part of this journey. You guys are awesome! 🙏

🔐 Public Chat Now Requires an Account

Starting today, you'll need to be signed in to chat in Public Lobbies. We know some of you won't like this change, but here's why we're doing it.

Dealing with spam and toxic behavior without accounts has been challenging. Troublemakers keep coming back anonymously, making it hard to enforce our community guidelines effectively. Requiring accounts for public chat lets us actually address these issues and create a safer environment for everyone.

The good news: Signing up is completely free, takes 2 minutes, and unlocks features like adding friends, stats, achievements, saving memes, and more. Private Lobbies work exactly as before.

🎮 What's New in 2.0.6

• 👥 Lobby Player List: You can now view all players currently in your lobby directly from the in-game menu. This makes it easy to add friends, report players and manage your lobby
• 🌍 13 New Lobby Languages: Bengali, Bosnian, Persian, Malay, Punjabi, Slovenian, Albanian, Swahili, Tamil, Thai, Filipino, Urdu, and Vietnamese
• 🚩 Report Meme Button: Report problematic memes directly during gameplay
• 💬 Chat Improvements: Fixed auto-scroll behavior, Enter sends messages on mobile, increased spam cooldown, and chat now stays visible during caption creation
• Improved Reconnect logic in case you have bad WiFi
• Newsletter: You can now subscribe to occasional updates during sign-up or in account settings
  • This is 100% optional and doesn't affect existing accounts
  • You can change your e-mail preferences at any time in your account settings
  • We have adjusted our Privacy Policy to reflect this (here)
• New Meme Packs now display a "NEW" badge
• 🐛 Lots of Bug Fixes: Mobile tooltips improved, Safari dialog flickering, mobile invite screen looking weird, background looking weird on newest iOS version, and various UI issues

🎉 Private Chat is Back!

Great news everyone: Private Lobby chat is officially back online! We know the current chat filter situation was super frustrating and not fun anymore, blocking almost everything you tried to write. We heard you loud and clear.

We built our own filter system from scratch, made just for Make it Meme. The old one is gone, so things should be way better now. We want the game to be fun and safe, while still letting you chat and joke around normally.

🛠️ Help Us Improve

This is version 1 of our new system and we're tweaking it daily. If something gets blocked that shouldn't (or doesn't get blocked but should), let us know! Use the in-game feedback, email us at [email protected], or hit us up on Discord.

Also, keep reporting bad players by clicking their avatar and hitting the flag icon. 🚩

🚨 Nicknames Getting Blocked for No Reason?

We know many of you have been frustrated with our content filter being overly aggressive lately, blocking harmless nicknames and account names for no apparent reason. We hear you, and know that can be annoying.

🎉 Good News

We've rolled out a fix this morning that should resolve most of these issues. Harmless nicknames should no longer get blocked by our filter system.

💬 Private Lobby Chat Temporarily Disabled

While we continue working on improving our content filtering system, we've made the tough decision to temporarily disable chat in Private Lobbies. Don't worry though, you can still play and create memes as usual! Public lobbies continue to work normally with chat enabled.

We know this isn't ideal, but as a small team, we're working hard to get these improvements rolled out as quickly as possible. We want to make Make it Meme the best experience it can be for everyone.

After years of faithful service, we're saying goodbye to Pepe and welcoming our adorable new mascot - the MiM Cat! You'll see this cute feline in our new game icon, banner, and throughout the game. Don't worry, Pepe's legacy lives on in our hearts (and in countless memes).

🏆 Achievement System Overhaul

We heard you loud and clear - our achievements were harder to get than a perfect game of Dark Souls. So we've completely rebalanced the entire achievement system!

What Changed:

• All achievements now have exactly 3 levels (no more, no less)
• Requirements have been dramatically reduced to make them actually achievable by humans
• Heads up: When you first play after the update, you'll likely unlock multiple achievements at once as your existing stats are checked against the new requirements. Enjoy the dopamine rush!

• Level 1: 10,000 → 5,000 points
• Level 2: 100,000 → 50,000 points
• Level 3: 500,000 → 500,000 points
• Level 4: 1,000,000 (removed)

• Plan Switching: You can now upgrade or downgrade your membership at any time and switch between monthly and yearly billing - your remaining credits will be prorated with the new prices
